About the Artists

Annie Fay Meitchik is an artist and writer based in Southern California. As Encinitas House of Art's Education Director, Annie hosts and develops the House of Art's Art Camps and Fall Programs.

She graduated from The New School with her BA in Creative Writing (2020) and has earned Certificates in Children’s Book Writing and Illustration (UC San Diego, 2019) and Fashion Industry Essentials (Parsons School of Design x Teen Vogue, 2017).

While the arts are essential to peace building, in an increasingly exclusively STEM world, the importance of creativity is not nearly as recognized as it should be and Annie aims to change this.

Annie has been working at the intersection of arts and activism for nearly a decade. Music, visual arts, and literature have heavily inspired Annie to dedicate her life to ensuring that the arts are accessible to people from all backgrounds and identities. Over the years, she has had the privilege to teach fine art skills to hundreds of kids, collaborate with artists from around the globe, curate in galleries, work on de-installations in museums, and act as a docent.

As a writer, Annie has been using her blog since March 2017 to synthesize her experiences and catalog her encounters in the world. From its genesis, she wanted her blog to be more than a platform for her to share her thoughts, so, she created interview series like “Badass Women” and “Hidden Talent” to serve as safe spaces to promote creative people from around the globe and to create valuable dialogue about feminism, equality, creativity, and diversity.

Through her unique lesson plans, Annie hopes to continue to cultivate a culture of inspiration, inclusivity, and empowerment. If you are interested in learning more, please feel free to contact Annie at annie@encinitashouseofart.com

Dedicating herself to getting a fine arts degree from CSUF along with a teaching credential, she has a well rounded knowledge In painting, drawing, and film photography. Her true passion lies in watercolor and colored pencil, but she continues to build her knowledge in a variety of media. She is currently a AP studio arts teacher at a local private school for the past four years. She wants to expand her love of art not only in the classroom, but in her community as well. We are excited to have her as a teacher to cultivate a love of creativity for all ages.
